Social Activities

Joe Onativia has been organizing trips for St. Catharine's parishioners for 20 years. In that time, he has arranged over 200 trips to Broadway Shows, Westchester Dinner Theatre, Elmwood Theatre in Nyack, Restaurants on Arthur Avenue, Little Italy, Chinatown, Baseball Games, Army Football Games, Sight & Sound Theatre, the Botanical Gardens, Tours of New York City, Brooklyn, Bronx, and numerous other places! Joe is one of the nicest, most dedicated, and hardest-working people you'll ever meet. We are blessed to have you in our Parish, Joe! Thank you, and God bless you!

Joe's Reviews are almost as much fun as his trips! Here's Joe's Reviews of our trip to Byers Choice in Pennsylvania on November 4.

“On Saturday, November 4th, we went to Byers Choice where they make the Carolers Figurines, and Peddlers Village, where we ate and went shopping. It was a beautiful day in the 70’s. We had 37 people on the bus. Everybody enjoyed the day. We went to Byers Choice first where we were greeted with “Merry Christmas” when we got off the bus. We were shown a short video about Byers Choice and how they make the different figurines. It takes 13 days to make one figurine. It is a business that has been owned by a husband and wife for thirty years. They are very religious. They give twenty percent of their profits back to local charities. They are closed on Sundays. Everybody on the bus bought some type of figurine or Christmas Nativity scene. They had a very big display of the different figurines and kindles. Our next stop was to Peddlers Village, where we had lunch. It was a buffet lunch and it was delicious. (Note to Patti, I stayed away from the Chicken Marsala as one of my dishes. But, I think, if I had ordered the Chicken Marsala, it would have been delicious also!!) We had two different types of salads, salmon, beef tenderloin, roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes and homemade desserts. The best dessert was the Apple Crisp Pie! I went for the Cheesecake which was homemade. After lunch, we walked around to the different stores. Walking felt good after eating such a big meal. It was also their Apple Festival. I purchased a bushel of Honey Crisp apples and shared them with Tricia McDevitt. These were the best apples around! She thought they were the best apples she ever ate, too! (LOL! We may be exaggerating a little bit!!) It was just a fun day and you felt good after this trip. I would definitely go back to Byers Choice and Peddlers Village. I just would not go when it is their Apple Festival. There were too many people, and they said it was the largest crowd of the year! I give this trip **** Four Stars! No more trips this year, and that means no more of my Reviews. Stay tuned for some great trips in 2018. Merry Christmas to everybody and your families!! Joe”
