Altar Servers have a very important role at Mass. Servers carry the cross, the processional candles, hold the book for the Priest Celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, assist the Priest when he receives the gifts from the people, wash the hands of the Priest, and assist the Priest Celebrant and Deacon as necessary. A Server also rings a bell as a signal to the faithful.
Servers should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and to carry them out well and with appropriate reverence. They should have already received Holy Communion for the first time and normally receive the Eucharist whenever they participate in the Liturgy.
All 4th grade (and up!) girls and boys are invited to become Altar Servers. We currently have a dedicated group of approximately 55 girls and boys in this Ministry. Servers are scheduled for regular Sunday masses, as well as, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and any other special events. We will work around your schedule for vacations, family events, sporting events, etc. Please contact Deacon John Jurasek at firstname.lastname@example.org; or Mary Anne Pagnani at email@example.com or (845) 358-0739.
Please consider serving our parish in this special way.
